Travel soccer program overview

TRAVEL SOCCER PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Bloomfield Soccer has two levels of travel soccer program.

  • Academy level
  • Developmental level

Children are encouraged to play both when applicable.

The development of a happy, confident soccer player is a long process. The goal of making happy, confident players progresses gradually from a simple to a more complex understanding and attainable skills in playing the game. The Bloomfield Soccer Club philosophy that we focus on the long-term development of the player while keeping in mind both the importance of competition and achievable performance as well as enhancing the player’s love for the game. To achieve this we will be providing and following the guidelines of the United States Youth Soccer player development program.

Academy level soccer

Academy level soccer is soccer that can reach the highest level of competition. You can play for New Jersey State Cups, Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, and ultimately National Championships.

Bloomfield Soccer Club has achieved these levels before. We have made it to two National Finals, won two state cups and we are committed to add to our club’s legacy in 2022.

Academy level soccer is coached by professional soccer trainers with a proven track record of success of player development and success fulfilling team goals. It is for players who have already demonstrated talent and commitment to competing at the highest levels of play.

Academy level soccer endeavors to provide a high-level, structured training experience to children who desire to continue to develop their individual skills and to learn the team first concept of commitment.

The goal of individual development is to have the player find joy and fun in the game, confidence in their skills, and to develop the understanding of camaraderie of the team and respect for opponents.

Developmental level

Developmental level soccer has a similar philosophy but more time will be dedicated to improving the player’s individual skills. Teams may be coached by parent volunteers and/or professional soccer trainers depending on the goals of the team and commitment of the player’s families.

The goal of developmental travel soccer is player development first and foremost.

Academy vs Developmental Travel Soccer Level of Play

Academy level teams will play either in EDP league play or tournament play or both depending on the realistic expectation of the team trainer. EDP league is for the more advanced player. There is a fall and spring season. Player must commit to both seasons. Fall 2021 and Spring 2022.

Games are typically played Saturdays and Sundays.
Developmental level soccer will play in more localized leagues such as MNJYSA or NCSA. Developmental level soccer teams may also choose to play in tournaments against equal strength opponents.

Costs
The costs of the program can vary greatly with a minimal cost of $300-$600 a player per year in developmental soccer. $1000 or more for the year in academy level soccer. Each team operates its own budget and the costs are reflective of the goals of team.
